Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You highlighted the key crossover point in 1971 and contrasted the opposing trends of owned and rented accommodation. However, some data points are slightly inaccurate or vague, such as the claim that rented households saw '35% growth' in 2011, which misinterprets the percentage share. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are reported with greater precision and that comparisons between the two categories are more explicitly linked throughout the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use transition signals like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. However, the flow within paragraphs is occasionally mechanical, and some sentences lack smooth transitions. For instance, the transition between the 1939/1953 data and the 1991 data is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'both the households') is more precise would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'consistent', and 'dramatically'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation. For example, 'peaking trend' is not standard English, and 'demand of both the households met' is awkward phrasing. Additionally, 'rented household' should be pluralized as 'rented households' to match the context. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your vocabulary choices are natural and contextually appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that affect the fluency of the text. For example, 'the both modes' is incorrect (it should be 'both modes'), and 'depicting the least preferred accommodation' is a sentence fragment. There are also issues with article usage and verb tense consistency. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and sentence completeness will help improve your accuracy.
