Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You highlighted the shift from rented to owned accommodation, which is the key feature of the chart. However, there are some factual inaccuracies in your reporting. For instance, you mention 1998 as the starting point, but the chart begins in 1918. Additionally, stating that owned accommodation was 'least popular' in 1981 is slightly confusing given the context of the trend. To improve, ensure that you carefully transcribe the years and figures from the graph to avoid misrepresenting the data, as accuracy is essential for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'On the other hand', and 'Meanwhile' to link your ideas. However, the progression of information is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'it remained its popularity'. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect the data points more fluidly. Overall, the structure is sufficient to follow your argument, but it lacks the sophisticated cohesion required for a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'substantial decline', and 'dramatically'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation. For example, 'residence in homeowners' is grammatically incorrect; it should be 'proportion of homeowners'. You also use 'accumulated for 22%', which is not the correct usage of the verb. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, you need to focus on using words in their correct grammatical context and improving your precision to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, such as 'households in rented accommodation was' (should be 'were') and 'households in owned accommodation was' (should be 'were'). There are also minor errors in preposition use and tense consistency. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to limit your score. Focus on proofreading for basic agreement and pluralization errors.
