Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the chart, identifying the trends for both owned and rented accommodation. However, there is a significant issue with the accuracy of the data interpretation. You stated that owned accommodation started at 76% and rented at 23%, which contradicts the visual data provided in the chart. Furthermore, the report includes a repetitive section where the first two paragraphs are restated, which negatively impacts the overall task completion. While you have identified the key trends, the factual errors regarding the starting percentages and the inclusion of redundant text prevent a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay suffers from poor structural management. The most significant issue is the repetition of the introduction and the first two paragraphs, which disrupts the flow and logical progression of the response. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand' and 'Whereas', the mechanical repetition of text makes the essay feel disjointed. Paragraphing is present, but the content within the paragraphs is not well-organized due to the redundant text. To improve, ensure that you proofread your work to avoid duplicating entire sections and focus on a clear, linear progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportions', 'accommodations', 'dramatic decrease', and 'dominant'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'encoutered' instead of 'encountered', 'untill' instead of 'until', and 'shap' instead of 'sharp'. Additionally, there are some awkward word choices and phrasing issues. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the general meaning, the frequent spelling mistakes and the repetitive nature of the text limit the score. Focusing on accurate spelling and avoiding redundant phrasing will help improve your lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'At 1918' (should be 'In 1918'), 'it fall dramatically' (should be 'it fell'), and 'the increased slightly' (should be 'then increased'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas used throughout the text, such as in 'The bar chart, mentions the proportions, of households'. These errors are frequent and distract from the clarity of the writing. You should focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and more precise punctuation.
