Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response provides a clear overview of the main trends, identifying the significant shift from rented to owned accommodation. However, the analysis of the data is somewhat inconsistent. While the overall trends are captured, the description of specific periods is occasionally inaccurate or lacks precision. For example, stating that numbers remained constant between 1939 and 1953 is a simplification that overlooks the fluctuations shown in the data. Furthermore, the report lacks a clear, integrated comparison of the data points, relying instead on a chronological list. To improve, ensure that all key features are accurately described and that comparisons are made more explicitly throughout the report.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the chronological progression. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'During the year' and 'Meanwhile after' are used in a way that feels slightly unnatural. Additionally, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt. The logical flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas within and between sentences, rather than relying on simple temporal markers. Paragraphing is present but could be more effectively used to group related trends together.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, with some effective descriptive verbs such as 'surged', 'plummeted', and 'slumped'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'both kind of accommodations' (should be 'both kinds of accommodation') and 'levelled up' (which is not the standard collocation for data trends). The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, but it lacks the sophistication and precision required for a higher band score. Expanding the range of synonyms for trends and avoiding repetitive phrasing would enhance the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including issues with article usage ('the owned accommodation'), subject-verb agreement, and punctuation (e.g., unnecessary capitalization in 'Overall, The percentage'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on consistent article usage and refining sentence structure to ensure that complex sentences are constructed accurately. Proofreading for minor slips in punctuation and capitalization would also be beneficial for overall clarity.
