Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully identifies the main trends and provides a clear overview of the data. You have highlighted the key shifts in both categories (owned vs. rented) and included relevant data points to support your descriptions. The comparison between the two categories is consistent throughout the report. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are accurate; for instance, you mentioned 31% at 2001, but the chart shows 2001 as a turning point for both categories. Overall, you have addressed all parts of the task effectively and provided a logical summary of the information presented in the chart.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is well-organized with a clear introduction, an overview paragraph, and a detailed body paragraph. The progression of ideas is logical, moving from the general trends to specific data points. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'However', and 'at the beginning of the period' to link your ideas effectively. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the information is easy to follow. To improve, ensure that the transition between the overview and the specific details is slightly smoother to avoid a mechanical feel in the structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. Phrases like 'dominant one', 'dramatic decline', 'leveled off', and 'dramatic surge' are used appropriately to describe the trends in the chart. There are some minor issues with collocation, such as 'highest common method', which sounds slightly unnatural; 'most common form of accommodation' would be more precise. While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, incorporating a few more sophisticated synonyms or precise academic collocations would help elevate your score to the next level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. Most of your sentences are clear and easy to understand. There are some minor grammatical errors, such as 'households rented in accommodation' (should be 'households in rented accommodation') and 'where the least common method' (should be 'were the least common method'). Additionally, there are some punctuation and preposition slips. However, these errors do not impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your prepositions are used correctly when describing data points.
