Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have identified some key features, such as the 1918 figures and the 1971 intersection, the analysis is underdeveloped. You have not provided a comprehensive summary of the trends over the entire period (1918–2011). To improve, you must ensure you cover all parts of the prompt, including the end of the period, and provide a more detailed comparison of the data points to reach the required length and depth of analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into sections, but the structure is not standard for an IELTS report. The use of headings like 'INTRODUCTION' and 'PARAGRAPH A' is unnecessary and not recommended. While there is some attempt at logical progression, the lack of cohesive devices makes the writing feel disjointed. Sentences are often short and lack clear links between them. To improve, use transition words such as 'however', 'meanwhile', or 'subsequently' to connect your ideas and ensure the flow of information is smoother throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use the phrase 'percentage of household in', which lacks variety. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'as comparison of 2001 it falls 47%'. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant decline'. Additionally, ensure that your word choices are precise and grammatically integrated into your sentences.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains several grammatical errors that hinder clarity. For example, 'the table show' should be 'the table shows' (subject-verb agreement), and 'in between 1918 and 2011' is redundant. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, as most sentences are simple and contain errors in tense or preposition usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for small errors like missing articles or incorrect verb forms will also help improve your score.
