Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the chart, such as the starting points, the crossover point in 1971, and the trends over time. However, the analysis is somewhat inconsistent. For instance, the claim that rental accommodation was at its minimum in 2001 is inaccurate based on the visual data, which shows a slight rise by 2011. Additionally, the description of trends is occasionally confusing, such as the phrase 'after being constant in next two decades of years in gradually fell dramatically'. While the key trends are identified, the lack of precision in reporting data points and the slightly muddled summary of the trends prevent a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a summary. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In contrast', 'Whereas', and 'To sum up', though some transitions feel mechanical or slightly forced. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the internal structure of the sentences sometimes hinders the flow. For example, the sentence 'In the mid of the years 1918 to 2011 which is 1971' is clunky. Improved sentence linking and more varied cohesive devices would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors. Examples include 'vicinity of 69%', 'maximum amount of peoples', and 'on the hype'. These errors occasionally make the text sound unnatural. While the student attempts to use specific terms related to the chart, the lack of precision in collocation and word choice limits the range. To improve, the student should focus on using more academic collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('the maximum amount of peoples who owns'), incorrect preposition usage ('in the mid of the years'), and awkward tense usage ('in 2011 is increased'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent and occur in both simple and complex sentences. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining sentence structure would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
