The chart below shows the percentage of households in owned and rented accommodation in England and Wales between 1918 and 2011.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 4.0)
The bar chart displays the imformation about the households in owned and rented homes in England and Wales from 1918 to 2011.
Overall,Household in owned accommodation is less during the start of the chart and as the time passes it increases and in rented accomodation it decreases.
Spike in the owned accomodation is because after the industrial revolution lot of peoples buyed their own houses and as they buy their houses need for the household goods also increases. That is the reason of the spike in the bar chart.
There is also a downfall in the chart it represent the rented household accomodation its value decreses because the population living in the area buy's there own household goods beacuse the rent price of the products cost more and to buy own cost less. And with rented equipment there is also a responsibility came to have care of the equipment that it doesnot get damage.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0
The response attempts to address the task by discussing the trends shown in the chart regarding households in owned and rented accommodation in England and Wales between 1918 and 2011. However, the student severely misinterprets the data, confusing accommodation with household goods and equipment (e.g., discussing how 'need for the household goods also increases' and 'rent price of the products cost more'). No specific figures or years from the chart are reported to support the trends, apart from a vague mention of the start of the chart. The overview is overly simplistic and factually inaccurate regarding what is actually measured. Consequently, the task achievement is quite low.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay is divided into very short, disjointed paragraphs that fail to develop a clear logical structure. There is an attempt at an overview, but the progression of ideas is hindered by the fundamental misinterpretation of the chart content. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, such as 'Spike in the owned accomodation is because...' and 'There is also a downfall in the chart it represent...', leading to a lack of cohesion and readability. Paragraphing is inappropriate as sentences are fragmented into single-line paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is very basic and often inappropriate due to the misinterpretation of the visual data, utilizing words like 'accomodation' (which is misspelled as 'accomodation' and 'accomodation' multiple times), 'buyed' (non-standard form of bought), and completely off-topic terms like 'household goods' and 'products'. There is a lack of flexibility and range, and the spelling errors ('imformation', 'decreses', 'beacuse') further restrict the lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical structures attempted are largely simple or faulty complex sentences. There are frequent errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation (e.g., 'Household in owned accommodation is less', 'population living in the area buy's there own household goods', 'responsibility came to have care of the equipment that it doesnot get damage'). These frequent errors and awkward phrasings impede communication and strain the reader throughout the response.
