Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, finishing significantly short at 128 words. Furthermore, the content fails to properly report the main features and trends of the chart. The student misinterprets the data categories entirely, referring to households as house luggage, number of house luggage, and apartments, which demonstrates a serious misunderstanding of the visual data. While there is a basic attempt to describe upward and downward trends over the decades, the lack of specific data points (such as starting and ending percentages) and the incomplete ending of the text mean that the task is only partially addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The organization of the text is hindered by poor paragraphing and abrupt cut-offs. While the student attempts to sequence ideas chronologically and makes some use of cohesive devices like 'However' and 'While', the progression of logic is frequently broken by severe lexical errors and incomprehensible phrasing. Paragraphing is not used effectively, with the essay splitting awkwardly into two short blocks, the second of which trails off mid-sentence ('maximu'). Referencing is frequently unclear due to misused pronouns and nouns.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The lexical resource is severely limited and inappropriate for an Academic task. The student commits persistent and egregious word-choice errors, notably substituting the word 'households' with 'house luggage', 'luggage', and 'house hold'. Other terms such as 'bignning' and 'deacade' reflect major spelling deficiencies. Although common vocabulary like 'percentage', 'decrease', and 'rise' appear, the pervasive misuse of basic terminology impedes communication and lowers the lexical score significantly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is restricted mainly to simple and attempted complex sentences, all of which contain frequent errors. Examples include 'there was gradual decrease in the household in rented apartments' (missing articles) and 'the rise in the household continuously seen' (missing auxiliary verb and passive voice construction). Punctuation and word forms are handled poorly, and the incomplete final sentence demonstrates a lack of basic grammatical control. Errors are dense and frequently obscure the intended meaning.
