Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The student attempts to report the main features of the chart across the given years, noting data points for both owned and rented accommodation. However, the response lacks a proper overview, and the second paragraph's attempt at an overview ("There will be explain two pargraph") is entirely unsuccessful and non-academic. Furthermore, the reporting of data is extremely repetitive and reads like a raw list of figures rather than a well-synthesized summary with relevant comparisons. For example, the student writes, "1918 in the households in owned accommodation in the 22%... 1939 the households in owned accommodation in 31%". While the core data is largely present, the lack of an analytical overview, comparative language, and proper task structuring places this response at Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text is divided into paragraphs, including an introduction and two body paragraphs, but the paragraphing is poorly handled. The second paragraph consists of a single fragmented sentence ("Overall, The england and the wales...") that fails to function as an introductory overview. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, relying on repetitive mechanical transitions like "First of all" and "Second of all". Progression is hindered by the listing style, and referencing is weak throughout. The sentences do not flow logically from one to the next, resulting in a disjointed structure that aligns with the descriptors for Band 4.5 or 5.0. Band 5.0 is awarded as there is some basic organization present.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is extremely basic, repetitive, and heavily dependent on copying words directly from the prompt ("households in owned accommodation", "households in rented accommodation", "England and Wales"). There is no attempt to use less common lexical items or synonyms (e.g., homeowners, renters, properties, percentages). Word choice errors are frequent, such as preposition misuse ("shows to the percentage") and awkward phrasing ("households in rented to the accommodation"). While communication of the basic figures is not entirely blocked, the range of vocabulary is strictly limited and inadequate for a higher band, reflecting a Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0 for fulfilling the basic descriptive function.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammatical structures attempted are very simple and repetitive, consisting almost entirely of fragmented noun phrases rather than complete clauses (e.g., "1918 in the households in owned accommodation in the 22%"). There is a complete lack of complex sentence structures. Grammatical errors are pervasive, including missing verbs, incorrect prepositions, and improper article usage ("The england and the wales"). Punctuation and capitalization errors also occur frequently throughout the text. Because complex structures are absent and errors cause considerable strain for the reader, the response fits the Band 4.5 level, but is assessed at 4.0 due to the high frequency of basic structural errors.
