The chart below shows the percentage of households in owned and rented accommodation in England and Wales between 1918 and 2011.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The bar chart depicts the proportion of households living in owned and rented living space in England and Wales from 1918 to 2011.

Overall, it is evident that, most individuals used to live in rented space in the starting years, but these ratio's changed over time, and thus the share of people living in their owned area increased.

Initially, in the year 1918, the percentage of people owning and living in their accommodation were around 23 percent whereas, the fraction of individuals living in rented space were contributing to 77 percent. The trend of staying in rented accommodatin declined over the years, and at a moment, both the renting and owning a house were in equal proportion in the year 1971.

The trend continued until 2001 and owning a house captured the major chunk of individuals and renting a space reduced overtime. Conversely, the owned accommodation saw a slight 5 percent decline between the years 2001 and 2011.
