Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, finishing abruptly at 132 words and leaving the description incomplete. While it attempts to address the task by reporting key features such as the overall trends and the crossover point in 1971, the coverage is incomplete and lacks a fully developed overview. The opening summary contains inaccuracies, incorrectly stating that household in ownership was initially the lowest compared to rented accommodation, which contradicts the visual data for 1918. Furthermore, the information is truncated towards the end, preventing a full and rounded summary of the entire period up to 2011.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response shows an attempt at logical organization with paragraph breaks and basic cohesive devices such as 'overall', 'initially', and 'furthermore'. However, the progression is hindered by abrupt transitions and mechanical linking. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall arrangement falls short of a smooth, flowing narrative. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is incomplete due to the text cutting off mid-sentence, which disrupts the structural coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common lexical items such as 'proportion', 'dramatically', and 'marginally'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and word-form errors that detract from the quality, such as 'household in ownership' instead of 'households in owned accommodation', and repeated spelling errors like 'ownerd' instead of 'owned'. These inaccuracies, combined with limited flexibility, restrict the vocabulary score to a modest level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple clauses and basic complex forms. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing pluralization ('household percentage', 'rented house'), incorrect capitalization ('Initially, In 1918'), and preposition errors. Additionally, punctuation is faulty in places, such as unnecessary commas splitting verb phrases. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak control of grammatical accuracy.
