Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the chart’s main contrast and describe the broad shift from renting to ownership, including the crossover at 1971 and the reversal in 2011. These are relevant features, and the overview gives the reader a general picture. However, some key details are inaccurate or unclear: ownership did not “rise day by day,” since it was unchanged from 1939 to 1953 and dipped after 2001; nor did owners become “triple” between 1991 and 2001. The claim that renting fell “dramatically” in 2001 also overstates a small change. Develop the overview around the overall rise and later slight fall in ownership, and the opposite pattern for renting, then support it with accurate comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an overview to details across the period, and the final paragraph focuses on later years. This gives the reader some sense of chronology. However, progression is weakened by repeated points: the unchanged figures in 1971 are mentioned twice, and the general rise in ownership and fall in renting is restated several times. Connectors such as “Afterthat,” “Whereas,” and “On the other hand” are sometimes awkward or do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. Group the early years together and the later years together, and use linking phrases only when they clarify a comparison or change. Clearer paragraph focus and less repetition would make the account easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of vocabulary for describing trends, including “prioritizing,” “negligible,” and “dramatically,” and the topic is generally understandable. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for chart description, such as “contribution of household owners,” “rental residence,” and “owners are triple.” Trend language is also repetitive, particularly “goes up,” “goes down,” and “day by day.” There are noticeable spelling and word-form problems, including “droping,” “minmally,” and “dramatical.” Use standard terms such as “home ownership,” “rented accommodation,” “proportion,” “rose,” and “declined,” and check spelling and collocations so that the intended comparisons are clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and some longer sentences with clauses, for example, “In 1939 rental homes slightly goes down when ratio of home owners goes up.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. Examples include “it fall in 2001,” “rental homes slightly goes down,” and “home owners are climb day by day.” The sentence beginning “Most noticeably the rental and owners…” also lacks a clear grammatical relationship between its subjects. Practise matching verbs to subjects and using past-tense forms consistently for this historical data. Shorter, accurately formed comparisons would help, while you gradually build more reliable complex sentences.
