Student answer (Band 6.5)
The information provided the given bar chart illustrates the proportion of families in owened and rented apartment in two different countries namly: England and Wales between 1918 and 2011.
Overall, it is quite evident from the mentioned graph that the nubmer of households in rented accommodation were significantly high in initial years which was gradually declined over the period. Conversely, the figure of families who owned apartment were very minimal percentage in the start of era, but in the later years it was substantially increased througout the last period.
Furthermore, in 1918, the nuberof individuals who lived in rented houses were accounted for nearly 77%, and householders have over 20% of population. In the following to year 1939 and 1953, the percentage of these two year were approximately equal for both house owners and rented persons of about 68% for rented and over 30% for householders. Likewise, in 1961, the accommodation of house owner was under 60% and rented individuals was nearly 40%. 1971 was a unique year where the proportion of both householders and rented persons were same exactly 50%.
In the following years, in 1981 and 1991, the percentage of rented families were between 30 to 40 percent and the proportion of house owers were between 60 to 70 percent. Similiarly, in 2001, people who were living in rented house were over 30% and individuals who lived in their own houses were significantly rise up to 68%. Ultimately, in the last year 2011, households in rented accommodation were closely 35%, while the proportion of households in owned apartment have substantially escalated to roughly 64% at the end of the period.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You identify the chart’s central contrast accurately: renting falls from a high starting point, while ownership rises, and the two meet at 50% in 1971. The response also covers the full period and includes relevant comparisons, such as the similar figures in 1939 and 1953 and the reversal in 2011. This gives the report a clear overview and relevant support. Some details are imprecise, however: ownership was about 41% in 1961, not “under 60%” as a useful comparison, and the 1981 and 1991 figures are grouped broadly rather than reported individually. Also, ownership peaks at about 69% in 2001 before falling to 64%, so describing it as continually escalating through the end overlooks this final change. Highlighting that peak and decline would make the key features more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The report is organised into an introduction, an overview, and two detail paragraphs, with a generally logical progression from the early years to the later period. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Conversely,” and “In the following years” help signal the relationships between ideas. The chronological structure is easy to follow, and the comparison of the two categories is maintained throughout. Some transitions are awkward or repetitive, however: “In the following to year 1939 and 1953” and “In the following years, in 1981 and 1991” interrupt the flow. The final paragraph also repeats the ownership trend without clearly emphasising its 2001 peak and subsequent fall. Use simpler transitions and group years according to meaningful changes in the data.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “accommodation,” “declined,” and “substantially,” and the main trends remain understandable. However, inaccurate word choice and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the report sound unnatural. “Families” and “individuals” are used where “households” is the precise unit, while “rented persons” and “householders” do not clearly describe the chart categories. There are also spelling errors such as “owened,” “nubmer,” “Similiarly,” and “owers.” Some phrases, including “in the start of era” and “escalated to roughly 64%,” are awkward or misleading. Prefer a smaller set of precise terms—“households,” “homeowners,” “rented accommodation,” “rose,” and “fell”—and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including contrast clauses with “Conversely” and time phrases such as “In 1918” and “In the following years.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but grammatical control is inconsistent. For example, “the number of households … were” has subject–verb disagreement, and “which was gradually declined” uses an incorrect verb construction. In “the percentage of these two year were,” the noun phrase and verb do not agree, while “the proportion … were same exactly 50%” has problems with the article and sentence structure. Several sentences also join figures in a fragment-like way, such as “1971 was a unique year where…”. Build shorter, complete sentences and check agreement, verb forms, and articles before adding more complex structures.
