Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the chart’s subject and give a relevant overview of the opposing trends: ownership generally rises while renting falls. You also report several key figures accurately, including ownership at about 22% in 1918, 32% in 1939 and 1953, and 50% in 1971. This meets the task well, with some features reported in useful detail. However, the overview says ownership peaked in 2001 without noting the subsequent fall to 64% in 2011, and the final sentence about renting is unfinished, so its later figures and endpoint are not clearly reported. Also, ownership was level at about 69% in 2001, rather than clearly rising to a peak. A complete comparison of both series, especially their shared 50% point in 1971 and their 2011 reversal, would make the summary more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph describing ownership, and a final paragraph beginning the account of renting. The sequence from earlier to later years is generally easy to follow, and phrases such as “Initially” and “On the other hand” help signal shifts. However, the final paragraph stops mid-thought, leaving the comparison incomplete and weakening the overall progression. Some linking is also mechanical or unclear, as in “As campare of those of rental accommodations,” and several long sentences join multiple time points without clear punctuation. Use a complete, parallel paragraph for renting and ownership, and divide the timeline into clearer stages so that comparisons are easier to track.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “accommodation,” “increased,” and “decreased,” so the topic remains understandable. There are also attempts to describe change with phrases such as “gradually” and “at its peak.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, including “ratio of people,” “private residents,” “more esclating,” and “it roses slightlb.” Spelling errors such as “begnning” and “accomodation” are noticeable, while repeated use of “with the passage of time” is less precise than language tied to the dates. Build a more accurate set of trend expressions and check spelling and collocation; this will make the report clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the overall meaning of the main trend is usually recoverable. However, control is inconsistent: “ratio of people living in their own house is low … but it gradually increase” has problems with articles, agreement, and verb form, while “the households who have their own house, was not high” has an unclear clause structure and subject–verb disagreement. Tense use also shifts between present and past when describing historical data. Punctuation is sometimes missing after figures, as in “41%.Where as,” and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise past-tense reporting and concise sentence patterns, checking that each subject matches its verb and that each sentence is complete.
