Student answer (Band 5.5)
A bar charts shows a clear shift from renting to home owership in England and whales between 1918 and 2011. Home owership increased substantially, while renting declined, and both figures were equal at around 50% at around in 1971.
In 1918 approximately, 77% people were on rent while, 22% have there own houses. Then in next 14 years from 1939 to 1953 the ratio of rented accomodation are on the same point with 68% moreover house owers also followed the same trend was around 32%.In 1961 renting owership rose with 59%,while home owerships fell to about 41%.
Th portion of homeowers and rented owers were same in 1971 roughly about 50%. Now the bar chart followed the opposite trend from the previous years starting from 1981 upto 32 years their was a drastic increased in homeowership rather than renting.Home owerships continued to grow upto 69% in 20021 however, renting fell about 31%.
overall, the trend was a gradually change from renting owerships to home owerships in 1918 to 2011, with a modest increase in house owers than rented owerners

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the chart’s main contrast and overall direction: ownership generally rises while renting falls, and the two are equal at about 50% in 1971. Several key figures are also reported accurately, including the 1939–1953 plateau and the 2001 peak in ownership. However, the account is only partly precise: “In 1961 renting ownership rose” reverses the trend, since renting fell from 68% to 59%, while ownership rose. The claim that ownership increased “from 1981” overlooks its earlier rise, and the final comparison does not clearly report the 2011 reversal to 64% ownership and 36% renting. A more complete overview and accurate coverage of the final years would make the summary more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an opening overview to chronological details and a concluding summary. Time markers such as “In 1918,” “In 1961,” and “in 1971” help readers follow the chart. However, progression becomes difficult in places because several ideas are crowded into long sentences, especially the account of 1939–1961. Connectors such as “moreover” and “however” do not always show the relationship between the figures clearly, and “Now” is an awkward transition into historical data. The conclusion largely repeats the opening rather than adding a clear final comparison. Use one paragraph for the overview and separate, logically grouped periods for the details, with simpler links between changes.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “increased substantially,” “declined,” “ratio,” and “trend,” and the reader can generally identify the two accommodation categories. However, the range is limited by repeated and inaccurate forms such as “home owership,” “rented owers,” and “house owers.” Several expressions are not natural for this topic: “people were on rent” and “renting ownership” make the meaning less clear, while “drastic increased” uses the wrong form. Spelling errors are frequent, including “whales,” “accomodation,” and “owerships,” and they reduce precision. Learn and reuse accurate collocations such as “households in rented accommodation” and “the proportion of owner-occupied homes,” checking spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “while” and a time clause beginning “from 1939 to 1953.” However, complex constructions are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “the ratio of rented accomodation are on the same point” has subject–verb disagreement and an unclear sentence pattern; “both figures were equal at around 50% at around in 1971” repeats the preposition and phrase. Tense and agreement are also inconsistent in “77% people were on rent” and “home owerships continued to grow.” Focus on complete, controlled sentences: use “the proportion … was,” maintain past tense for the historical data, and check articles, plurals, and punctuation.
