Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the chart’s central contrast and describe the broad shift from renting to owning, including the crossover at 1971 and the equal figures in 1939 and 1953. These are relevant features and show a generally accurate understanding. However, the overview is imprecise: ownership rose for most of the period but did not keep increasing to the end, falling from about 69% in 2001 to 64% in 2011; renting then rose. The claim that ownership “drastically grow up” from 1981 to 2011 also misses the plateau around 1991–2001 and the final decline. The response ends mid-sentence, leaving the final period’s comparison incomplete. More precise coverage of the late trend would make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and paragraphs describing selected years. Its chronological order helps the reader follow the chart, and transitions such as “Moreover” and “Furthermore” signal additions. However, progression becomes difficult near the end: the final sentence is unfinished (“and the h”), so the comparison is left unresolved. Some linking is mechanical, and repeated openings such as “In the year” make the account feel list-like rather than synthesised. The overview also does not clearly preview the important turning point and late reversal. Grouping the early decline in renting with the later rise in ownership, then describing the crossover and final change, would create clearer progression and stronger cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “proportion,” “accommodation,” “increased” and “decreased,” so the main subject is usually clear. However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice or collocation errors make the description less natural: “at high level,” “increased faster at the ending,” and “drastically grow up” do not express the trends accurately or idiomatically. There are also spelling errors, including “begining,” “renetd,” and “percenatge,” and “wales” should be capitalised as “Wales.” Aim for precise trend language such as “stood at,” “rose steadily,” “declined,” “peaked” and “fell slightly,” while checking spelling and avoiding repeated wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, for example the sentence beginning “Moreover, in the year 1939 and 1953…” and the comparison introduced with “Alongside.” However, control of sentence structure and verb forms is inconsistent. Examples include “households … is at high level,” “we can saw change,” and “both … is equal,” where agreement or verb form is faulty. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or awkward, as in “at starting year” and “reached at around.” The final sentence is incomplete, which further affects grammatical clarity. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the intended comparisons can generally be understood. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and subject–verb agreement, and check each sentence for a complete main clause.
