Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify both categories and report the broad shift from renting towards ownership, including the equal 50% point in 1971 and the later reversal in 2011. However, the response gives no clear overview of the main pattern, and several figures are inaccurate: ownership is about 69%, not 70%, in 2001, and about 64%, not 65%, in 2011. The claim that people became rich and therefore bought homes is not shown by the chart. The opening also describes the chart imprecisely, and the account focuses mainly on year-by-year details rather than selecting the most important features. A concise overview and more accurate comparisons would make the report more complete and relevant.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response follows the years in chronological order, so readers can generally trace the changes, and phrases such as “After some years” and “on the other side” attempt to connect information. However, almost the entire report is presented as one long paragraph, with no distinct overview or clear grouping of trends. The repeated sequence of “After some years” and “In [year]” makes the progression mechanical, while the semicolon and full stops do not consistently separate ideas. Some references, such as “they” and “the rented peoples,” are unclear. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and one or two detail paragraphs, grouping related periods and using clearer links.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying on words such as “people,” “some,” “changes,” and “percent” to describe the data. Several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, including “household peoples,” “rented peoples,” and “built there houses”; these choices make parts of the report difficult to interpret. Spelling errors such as “acommodation,” “owen,” and “rebted” also weaken clarity. There are some relevant terms, including “owners” and “ratio,” but the response needs more precise language for describing chart trends and proportions. Practise collocations such as “the proportion of households,” “rose,” “remained stable,” and “fell,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to report several years in connected sentences, but sentence structures are mostly simple or joined by repeated “and,” and frequent grammatical errors sometimes make relationships unclear. For example, “the percentage of households owned and rented accommodation” lacks a suitable structure, while “the owners ratio are at 65 percents” has problems with agreement and sentence formation. Tense and verb forms are also inconsistent in “peoples are became rich,” and articles and plural forms are often missing or misused. Punctuation is weak, particularly where sentences run together after “as follow; In.” Build shorter, complete sentences first, then practise accurate past-tense reporting and subject–verb agreement.
