Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the overall shift from renting to owning and note the key crossover in 1971, so the response covers the main pattern. However, the overview contains a factual contradiction: ownership was not at its minimum in 2001; it peaked at about 69% then, while renting reached its low of about 31%. The claim that ownership was at its “utmost” in 2001 is correct, but the following “minimal in the same year” is unclear and appears to misstate the rented figure. The grouped ranges are broadly accurate, though the early rented figures include 77% in 1918, above the stated 60–70% range. To strengthen the report, state the overall trend precisely and include the slight reversal by 2011, when ownership fell and renting rose.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear four-part structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the periods before and after 1971. The chronological grouping helps the reader follow the chart, and transitions such as “In detail” and “Subsequently” signal progression. However, some linking is mechanical or awkward, particularly “Whereas” at the start of a sentence and “While” introducing a fragment-like final point. The overview’s reference to a minimum “in the same year” also makes the relationship between the two series difficult to follow. Improve cohesion by connecting comparisons within complete sentences and using clear references, for example, “By contrast, renting reached its lowest point in 2001.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “ratio,” “households,” “owned accommodation,” and “rented accommodation,” and make attempts to vary your wording with “maximum,” “utmost,” and “peak.” However, several choices are unnatural or imprecise for describing percentages and trends: “shows maximum,” “showed highest,” and “showed at its peak.” “Ratio” is also less suitable here than “percentage” or “proportion,” and “accoumudation” is misspelled. These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the general comparison, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for standard collocations such as “accounted for,” “reached a peak,” and “declined,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including comparisons and time clauses, and the main meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, especially subject–verb agreement: “the households … shows” should be “the proportion of households … was,” and “the owned accommodation shows” needs a matching subject and verb. There are also incomplete or awkwardly joined structures, such as “Whereas the owned accommodation…” and “While the rented accommodation showed…,” which do not form complete sentences in this context. The phrase “which around 20% to 40%” is missing a verb. Use complete clauses and check agreement, for example: “Ownership was lowest in 1918, at about 23%.”
