Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The chart above give us the imformation about how many people have renter accommodation in households and how many people have owned accommodation in households in england in different years from 1918 to 2011
Overall, As you see in the chart in 1918 number of people live in rented accommodation is higher then number of people live in owned accommodation in houdshold in 2011 but in 1971 they both are equal
In 1918, More then 75% people live in rented accommodation in householde, In 1939 it decrease to 68% and same until 1961 but it still higher than owned accommodation even after decreasing every year , But in 1971 both came to equal and after that rented accommodation go lesser that owned accommodation throughout every year its goes lesser and lesser like 40% in 1981, 32% in 1991, 31% in 2001 but its goes slightly high in 2011 about 36%
On the otherhand households in owned accommodation is way lesser than household in rented accommodation which is about 22% in 1918 ,But its increase throughout the passing years like its increase more than 30% in 1939 and still same upto 1953 than its increase in 1961 more than 40% , but in 1971 both are equal and after that owned accommodation goes higher than rented accommodation in households for example in 1981 it is about 60% and in 1991 its goes to 68% than 69% in 2001 but its goes slightly down in 2011 which was about 64%
Conclusion
In my opinion from 1918 to 2011 owned accommodation grow higher than rented accommodation reason ma be increase in income or people may think owned accommodation is more safer than rented accommodation for future

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You report the main pattern accurately: renting falls from about 77% to 31% before rising to 36%, while ownership rises from 23% to a peak of 69% and then declines to 64%. You also identify the crossover in 1971 and include relevant figures across the period. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: it compares 1918 with 2011 in a way that obscures the overall change, and the claim that renting decreases “every year” overlooks the final rise. The explanation about income and safety is speculative and not supported by the chart; an overview of the key trends and endpoint comparison would be more effective. These limitations leave some important features unclear or underdeveloped.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to separate paragraphs about renting and ownership. This helps the reader follow the two data series, and examples such as the figures for 1981, 1991 and 2001 are grouped sensibly. However, progression is weakened by a vague overview and by long sentences that combine several stages with repeated “but,” “and,” and “after that.” The final “Conclusion” repeats a general claim and adds speculation rather than consolidating the chart’s main features. Use clearer topic sentences, divide the long sequences into shorter sentences, and use precise links such as “by contrast” or “thereafter” selectively. This would make the organisation more coherent and less repetitive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “increase,” “decrease,” “equal,” and “slightly down,” so the main trends are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or awkward, such as “people have renter accommodation,” “go lesser,” and “grow higher.” Repeated use of “go,” “increase,” and “higher” also makes the description sound repetitive. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “imformation,” “houdshold,” and “otherhand,” which reduce precision. Aim to use standard terms for the data, such as “the proportion of households,” and vary trend verbs with accurate collocations. This would make the account clearer and more appropriate to an academic chart description.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the reader can usually understand the intended comparisons. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns. For example, “The chart above give us” has subject–verb disagreement, while “In 1939 it decrease to 68% and same until 1961” lacks correct verb forms and a complete construction. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent in phrases such as “in households” and “number of people live.” Punctuation is weak: several long sentences are joined with commas or conjunctions, making relationships difficult to track. Practise accurate past-tense reporting, agreement, and sentence boundaries, then build longer sentences from those reliable patterns.
