Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the two accommodation types and report several relevant features, including the equal split in 1971 and the broad rise in ownership alongside a fall in renting. The figures you give for ownership from 1918 to 1961 and the high starting level of renting are broadly consistent with the chart. However, the response covers only part of the period and does not report the later peak in ownership in 2001 or its decline by 2011; the final sentence is also incomplete. The overview is limited, and the comparison that renting fell “rapidly” is not clearly supported across the whole period. The response is 108 words, below the required 150, which further limits the detail and coverage. Add a complete overview and select key figures across the full timeline.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening, an overview, and a paragraph describing changes over time. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “On the other hand,” and “Whereas” show an effort to connect comparisons. However, progression is difficult to follow because the time periods overlap or are unclear: you discuss 1918–1961, then begin another statement covering 1918–2011 without completing it. The final phrase, “rapid decrease occur in rented hp,” leaves the reader without a finished point. Some connectors are also used awkwardly, and there is little clear paragraph development. Group the early and later years logically, use one clear overview, and ensure each sentence completes its comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “owned accommodation,” “rented accommodation,” and “increases,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “nearby 22,” “above then 75%,” “equally divided,” and “rapid decrease occur.” “Types of households” is also imprecise because the chart compares accommodation tenure, not household types. Spelling and typing errors, including “otherhand,” “hp,” and “!918,” reduce clarity. Aim for precise chart language and accurate collocations, for example “approximately,” “just over,” “the same proportion,” and “the percentage fell.” Check spelling and word forms before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “On the other hand” and a time phrase beginning “From 1918 to 1961.” However, control is inconsistent, and several errors make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “the households in owned and rented accommodation remained same” is missing an article and has an awkward verb pattern; “which where equaly divided” contains errors in the relative clause and verb; and “there was a constant increase occur” uses an incorrect verb construction. The final sentence is incomplete, so its structure cannot be understood. Punctuation spacing is also inconsistent, as in “Overall,in.” Practise complete past-tense sentences, subject–verb agreement, and accurate clause construction, then proofread each sentence for completeness.
