Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two accommodation categories and include several relevant figures, such as the equal 50% shares in 1971 and the 60% owned/40% rented split in 1981. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: renting was not highest throughout, since ownership overtook renting after 1971 and peaked at about 69% in 2001. The response also describes the overall pattern only vaguely as “fluctuation” and “increment as well as decrement,” rather than clearly summarising the long-term shift from renting to ownership and the slight reversal by 2011. Some figures are imprecise, including 1953 renting at 70% rather than about 68%, and the 2011 ownership figure at 62% rather than about 64%. Select the main trends and report them accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: an opening, an attempted overview, and a sequence of details across the years. The reader can follow parts of the chronology, particularly the figures for 1971 and 1981. However, progression is not consistently clear because information is crowded into one paragraph and transitions such as “This is the followed by the remaining information” and “Lets have a look at the remaining information” do not establish useful relationships. The overview also mixes general claims with details, and the final years are presented without a clear comparison. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and supporting data, then group the figures into meaningful stages and use concise links such as “By contrast” or “Thereafter.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “owned accommodation,” “rented accommodation,” “categories,” and “percentages,” so the subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “remaining information,” “household values,” and “clear comparison among the activities.” Some word forms and spelling also reduce accuracy, including “camparison,” “househols,” and “addittion.” Choose precise language for describing chart trends rather than referring to “activities,” and vary the verbs used to report changes. For example, describe ownership as rising or increasing and renting as declining, then use “levelled off” for the stable period. Proofreading spelling and collocations would make the report clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a few longer sentence forms, including “whereas for some cases remain stable,” but most sentences rely on basic patterns and many are incomplete or inaccurately formed. For instance, “The given bar chart illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “This is the followed by the remaining information” has an incorrect verb construction. Several year-and-figure statements lack a clear subject or verb, as in “1939 30% households in owned accommodation,” and punctuation is often missing or misplaced, making sentence boundaries difficult to identify. Use complete sentences with a subject and verb, maintain consistent past-tense reporting, and check articles and agreement. Short, accurate sentences are a useful starting point before adding more complex comparisons.
