Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main pattern: renting was more common at the start, the two figures met in 1971, and ownership became higher thereafter. The overview also notes the later rise in ownership and the small reversal by 2011. Most reported figures are close to the chart, but the 1961 rented figure is 59%, not the highest point in the series; renting was highest in 1918 at 77%. Ownership in 2011 is about 64%, rather than 62%. The response covers both categories, though some comparisons are unclear or underdeveloped—for example, it could more directly describe the long-term shift from renting to ownership and the near-stability between 1991 and 2001.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the earlier and later periods. Time markers such as “Meanwhile,” “From 1981 onwards,” and “In contrast” help readers follow the comparison. However, some links are mechanical or do not express the relationship precisely. “In four years” is unclear, and “From 1971 onwards” does not fit the preceding statement that ownership was highest from that point. The final paragraph also moves between ownership and renting without consistently making the comparison explicit. Improve progression by grouping the early decline in renting with the corresponding rise in ownership, then describing the later peak and reversal in both series.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “decline gradually,” “rise modestly,” and “in contrast.” These choices make the main trends understandable. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “highest ration,” “owned places,” and “proportion of things in rented palces”; these reduce precision and sometimes sound informal. There are also spelling errors, including “percenatge” and “staretd.” Prefer the chart’s consistent terms, “households in owner-occupied accommodation” and “households in rented accommodation,” and use “percentage” or “share” rather than “ratio” when reporting chart values. More accurate phrasing would make the description clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “Meanwhile” and a time clause beginning “when.” The overall meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “households in rented accommodation was recorded” has a plural subject and needs “were”; “between 1918 to 2011” should use “between … and …”; and “in 2011 it fall slightly” needs the past-tense form “fell.” The sentence beginning “Overall” also has an unclear time construction (“from 1918 to until 1971”). Check subject–verb agreement, past-tense consistency, and prepositions in time expressions. These corrections, alongside more controlled complex sentences, would improve accuracy without sacrificing range.
