Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two accommodation types and the broad change from renting being more common early on to ownership becoming more common later. You also note the equal 50% split in 1971 and the near-70% ownership level around 2001. However, the overview is unclear and several details are inaccurate: renting was highest at 77% in 1918, not in 1963, and ownership peaked at about 69% in 2001 before falling to 64% in 2011. The response also does not clearly summarise the full pattern across the period. To strengthen it, give a precise overview of the opposing trends and report the key turning points accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response begins with an introduction, then gives an overview and supporting statements, followed by a conclusion. However, the progression is difficult to follow because ideas are repeated or expressed unclearly. For example, “According to what is shown” introduces the 1971 comparison, but the sentence does not explain clearly that the two figures are equal. The final sentence repeats the early-versus-late comparison without clarifying the trend. Linking phrases such as “Moreover” and “In conclusion” are present, but they do not consistently make the relationships between points clear. Group the information into a clear overview and chronological comparisons, and use references and linking words only where they help the reader follow the data.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “peak,” “increase,” and “drop,” and “the lion part” appears to be an attempt to describe the larger share. However, word choice, spelling, and collocation errors are frequent and sometimes make the meaning difficult to understand: “conquired,” “percanteg,” “reward,” and “the lion part” are not appropriate or accurate expressions here. Some phrases, such as “touch in her peak” and “best reward,” do not communicate the intended data clearly. Build a reliable set of trend expressions and use them precisely—for example, “accounted for the largest share,” “rose to a peak,” and “declined.” Check spelling and avoid idioms unless you are confident they fit an academic report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts longer sentences and uses basic time and comparison structures, but grammatical errors are frequent and often obscure the intended meaning. Examples include “The chart bar provide,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “household in rented conquired,” where the sentence structure is incomplete. Articles, plurals, and verb forms are also unreliable, as in “there is a eqaul between them” and “accommodation of owned household are increase.” Punctuation and spacing around commas are inconsistent as well. Practise forming accurate simple sentences first, such as “The proportion of owner-occupied homes rose,” then combine them with clauses using “while” or “whereas.” This will help you show range without losing clarity.
