Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the overall shift from renting to ownership and report several key stages, including the equal 50% shares in 1971 and the ownership peak in 2001. Most figures and comparisons are grounded in the chart. However, the overview is imprecise: “nearly first five decades” does not clearly describe the period when renting was dominant, and “second half” is not an exact summary because the two categories are equal in 1971. Some details are also unclear or inaccurate: there was no “dramatic increase” in renting in 1918; renting simply stood at its highest level, 77%. The final gap was about 28 percentage points, rather than 30. A more precise overview and clearer reporting of the main changes would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear four-paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to earlier and later data, and the chronological sequence is generally easy to follow. Time markers such as “In 1918,” “In 1971,” and “From 1981 to 2011” help guide the reader. However, some links between ideas are awkward or unclear. For example, “nearly first five decades” and “second four decades” make the overview difficult to interpret, while “In 1939 and 1953 … respectively” does not clearly connect each year with its unchanged figures. The repeated use of “In” and “percentage” also makes the progression somewhat mechanical. Use more precise time-grouping and clearer references to the two categories to make the organisation more fluent.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for describing trends, including “marked elevation,” “highest percentage,” “difference,” and “slightly.” These choices show an attempt to vary your language beyond basic descriptions. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, however: “drametic increase” suggests a change rather than a high starting value, “tenant accommodation” is less suitable than “rented accommodation,” and “falled down” is not the correct form. There are also spelling errors such as “wales,” “househols,” “showes,” and “accommodationa.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding the main message, but they reduce precision and control. Prefer standard chart language and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, and several sentences communicate the data clearly, such as “In 1971, the percentage of both types of households became same and it was 50%.” However, some grammatical errors remain. In the overview, “percentage … were higher” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “the second half of the graph showes” also needs agreement and a correct verb form. The sentence “the households … were remained the same” uses an incorrect passive construction; write “the figures remained the same.” Articles and comparison structures are also sometimes missing or awkward, as in “became same” and “less by 50%.” Continue practising agreement, verb forms, and complete comparison patterns while retaining your attempts at varied sentence structures.
