Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the two categories and report the broad shift from renting to owning, including the crossover at about 50% in 1971 and the slight reversal by 2011. However, the overview is not fully accurate: renting does not fluctuate up and down; it generally declines, then rises after 2001. Likewise, ownership reaches its peak in 2001, not at the end. The final sentence, “household in rented went on lowest point,” is incomplete and leaves the trend unclear. The response also falls 15 words short of the required minimum, limiting the detail available. To strengthen the report, give a precise overview and explain the main stages with accurate comparisons, especially the long decline in renting and the late change.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the two accommodation types. This gives the reader some organisation, and time markers such as “In 1918” and “in 2001” help locate figures. However, progression is uneven: the account moves from renting to ownership and then returns to a vague comparison in “Meanwhile,” without completing that point. Linking words are sometimes mechanical or incorrectly punctuated, as in “While” after a comma and “however” joined to the preceding clause. The final sentence is also unfinished, weakening the ending. Use clearly separated paragraphs and connect each stage of the trends in a logical sequence, with a complete concluding comparison rather than an abrupt fragment.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “rented accommodation,” “owned accommodation,” “decreased,” and “dropped,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “number of houshold accommodation,” “people were on rented,” and “faced up and down.” Repetition of “lowest” and “went up” also makes the description imprecise. Spelling errors, including “houshold,” “accomodation,” “begening,” and “dramaticaly,” are noticeable and reduce clarity. Aim for accurate chart language such as “the proportion of households,” “fell steadily,” and “reached a peak,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts to combine information in longer sentences, for example, “In 1918 almost 78% … dropped … in 1939 … remained same in 1953,” but these structures are often faulty or difficult to follow. There are frequent problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries: “Household … were,” “remained same,” and the run-on sequence joined by “and and.” The final line, “Meanwhile dramaticaly changed happend with both, however household in rented went on lowest point,” is not a complete, controlled sentence. Most clauses follow a simple pattern, with limited accurate variety. Practise writing shorter, complete comparisons first, then combine them using correctly punctuated clauses and consistent past-tense verbs.
