Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the chart’s subject and report its broad pattern: renting was more common at the start, ownership rose over time, and the two figures were equal in 1971. Several figures are also close to the chart, including 41% and 59% in 1961 and 60% and 40% in 1981. However, the overview is unclear and incomplete: ownership peaked at about 69% in 2001 before falling to 64% in 2011, so it did not simply increase “day by day.” The final rented figure is about 36%, not 38%, and the 1939 and 1953 figures are not clearly reported. Focus on the main turning points and give a precise overview of the full trend.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an opening, an overview, and a chronological account, so the reader can follow the years in sequence. However, the progression is weakened by repeated, formulaic transitions such as “if we talk about” and “if I talk about,” and several years are crowded into one long paragraph. Some links between ideas are unclear—for example, “rented ratio going down day by day” does not specify the period, while the final sentence repeats the ownership trend without adding a clear comparison. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and the main stages, and group years with similar patterns. Clearer sentence boundaries and fewer repeated transition phrases would make the comparisons easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “ratio,” “percentage,” “going up,” and “falling down,” which helps communicate the general trends. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “own houses people,” “rented persons,” and “growing fastly.” Repetition of “ratio” and “going down” also makes the account less precise. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “illiustrates,” “incresing,” “approximatelly,” and “housholders,” which can distract the reader. Build a more accurate set of terms for describing proportions and trends, and check spelling and collocations when revising.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts to describe changes across several time periods and includes some linked clauses, but sentence structures are mostly simple or become difficult to control when extended. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in phrases such as “the ratio … is high” and “own houses is also going on growting era”; the latter also lacks a clear grammatical structure. Articles and plural forms are often omitted or inconsistent, as in “in 1971 both at equal ratio.” Punctuation and capitalisation are also unreliable, particularly in the long sequence beginning “In 1991 housholders…”. Use shorter, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check tense and agreement in each one.
