Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the two opposing trends and include several relevant figures, such as renting falling from about 80% to just over 30% and ownership reaching roughly 69% in 2001. However, the response lacks a clear overview of the main pattern—for example, that the two categories meet at 50% in 1971 and ownership becomes the larger share thereafter. Some details are inaccurate: the largest ownership rise was not 1961–1971 (it rose by about 9 points from 1971–1981), and the 1981 rental fall was about 10 points, not a uniquely significant fall. The response is also 11 words below the required minimum. Add a concise overview and report the key comparisons more accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response is arranged in a generally understandable order: it first describes rented accommodation and then turns to ownership, with “Meanwhile” marking the contrast. This gives the reader a basic progression through the two series. However, the information is not grouped into a clear overview followed by supporting details, and some links are mechanical or unclear, such as “Although in the end” and “Though rest of years.” The long sequences of trend statements also make comparisons between the two categories less explicit. To improve, begin with a short overview, then use separate paragraphs for the main periods or categories, and connect related figures directly—for instance, noting that the shares were equal in 1971.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “declining trend,” “remained unchanged,” “increment,” and “stagnant,” and the reader can generally understand the intended trends. There are also attempts at more descriptive wording, such as “significant fall.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural in this context: “highest spike” suggests a sudden peak, while “pace of increment is commendable” is evaluative rather than neutral chart language. Spelling errors such as “wales” and “percenage” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, neutral expressions such as “rose,” “fell,” “remained stable,” and “the largest increase,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “when” and “although,” and the main trends remain understandable. Some grammatical errors occur, however, particularly with subject–verb agreement and verb forms: “The households … has declining trend” and “number … keep climbing” need corrected agreement and tense. Articles and sentence construction are also inconsistent, as in “a 10% decrease can be noticed” and “Though rest of years.” Punctuation spacing is uneven, with missing spaces after full stops and spaces before commas. Use a consistent past-tense reporting style, check singular and plural subjects, and proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation.
