Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the two categories and give a broad overview of the main direction: renting starts higher and ownership rises over time. However, the response addresses the task only minimally. It gives no specific figures, omits the point at which ownership and renting are equal in 1971, and does not describe the later peak in ownership in 2001 or its decline by 2011. The explanation that renting fell “due to some reasons” is unsupported and does not report what the chart shows. The response is also 77 words below the required minimum, leaving too little detail to summarise the data adequately. To improve, include an overview and several accurate comparisons across the period.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic, recognisable structure: an introductory sentence is followed by an overview beginning with “Overall.” This gives the reader a simple route through the information. However, there is no developed sequence of details after the overview, so the response does not progress through the years or compare the two categories systematically. The final sentence also ends abruptly, and the link between the rise in ownership and “the economy grew” is asserted rather than clearly connected to chart evidence. Use a separate paragraph for key figures and organise it chronologically or around the contrasting trends. Linking phrases such as “By 1971” and “whereas” would make comparisons clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “rented,” “owned,” “declined” and “rise,” so the basic topic is understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or awkward: “total percentage of accomodations” does not clearly describe the share of households, while “highest number” is unsuitable for percentages. “Due to some reasons” is vague, and “in futureas the econmoy grew” is unclear. Spelling errors in “accomodations” and “econmoy” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise chart language such as “the proportion of households,” “accounted for,” and “increased steadily,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes a simple introductory sentence and attempts a longer sentence with a contrast: “At the early stages the households which were owned were at the lowest number but it started to rise…” This shows some ability to combine ideas, and the main message remains understandable. However, sentence structures are limited, and the longer sentence has unclear reference: “it” could refer to households or their proportion. The phrase “were having the highest number” uses an unsuitable tense construction, and “were at the lowest number” is awkwardly formed. The final clause is incomplete in presentation and lacks clear punctuation. Practise concise comparisons using accurate past-tense forms, for example, “The ownership rate rose, while the rental rate fell.”
