Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover the full period and report the main shift from renting being more common at the start to ownership becoming more common later. The figures for 1918, 1961, 1971, and 2001 are broadly consistent with the chart, and you note the peak in ownership around 2001. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: it says rented accommodation is “low in 2001” without clearly summarising the overall crossover, and the final figures are given as 63% and 35% rather than approximately 64% and 36%. The statement that both categories were 32% in 1939 is also incorrect; they were 32% owned and 68% rented. Make the overview more precise and check comparisons against the chart.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and chronological details grouped into paragraphs. Time markers such as “In 1918,” “In 1961,” and “At the end” help readers follow the sequence. However, progression is weakened by unclear or repetitive linking, including “Overall, there ae two comparisons” and repeated use of “while” and “where as.” Some sentences combine several years and comparisons without clear punctuation, making relationships difficult to follow. The overview also does not clearly guide the detailed paragraphs. Organise the body into clear stages—early years, the crossover, and later years—and use accurate, varied links to show contrast and change.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “households,” “increased,” “rose,” and “fall,” so the reader can identify the subject and general trends. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate, such as “the ratio of rented,” “owned household ratio,” and “minor up.” These expressions are not natural ways to describe proportions in a chart. Spelling errors such as “begging,” “incresed,” and “Afteralll” are noticeable, while repeated use of “up” and “down” limits precision. Build a more accurate set of terms for proportions and trends, such as “share,” “proportion,” “declined,” and “reached a peak,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, for example, “In 1961 the owned rose at 41% while the rented down at 59%.” This shows an effort to connect related information, but the sentence contains problems with verb forms and sentence structure. Other examples include “the both accommodation are remain same” and “the owned households up to 60%,” where verbs are missing or incorrectly formed. Articles, agreement, and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “After few year” and “owned.After.” These errors sometimes make the intended comparison harder to understand. Practise complete subject–verb sentences in the past tense, and use a reliable pattern such as “The proportion of owner-occupied homes rose to 60%, while renting fell to 40%.”
