Student answer (Band 5.5)
The Provided Chart illustrates the percentage of owned houses and rented houses from range of 1918 to 2011 in England and wales.
Overall, the chart describes the imformation about the percentage of owned and rented households.
Firstly, the percentage of self owned household living expense was almost 25 in 1918 that was grown up gradually such as 33 in 1939 , 41 in 1961 , 50 in 1971 , 60 in 1981 , 68 in 1991 , 69 in 2001 and it was some decrease in 2011 to 65 Percentage.
Moreover, the rented living expense percentage was 78 in 1918 that was decreased in the next coming years like 68 in 1939 and same as in 1953 while it was more less in 1961 at 59 percentage , 50 in 1971 , 40 in 1981 , 33 in 1991 , 31 in 2001 while it was some grew to 38 percentage in 2011.
At the end, the conclusion of this chart is that the owned household living expense percentage was grown every year while the percentage of rented household expense was decreased every year.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You report the main opposing trends and include several relevant figures: ownership rises from about 25% to a peak near 69%, while renting falls from roughly 78% to 31% before increasing at the end. Most figures are close to the chart, although the 2011 rented figure is overstated (the chart shows about 36%, not 38%). The overview is the main limitation: “the chart describes the information” does not identify the key pattern, and the final claim that ownership “was grown every year” is inaccurate because it falls after 2001 and is unchanged between 1939 and 1953. State clearly that the two series meet at 50% in 1971 and that both reverse slightly after their 2001/peak levels.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable sequence: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on ownership, a paragraph on renting, and a concluding statement. “Firstly” and “Moreover” help signal the two series, and the figures are generally presented in chronological order. However, the overview repeats the introduction rather than summarising the main pattern, while the final sentence repeats the trends and makes them sound uninterrupted. The long lists of values also make the body paragraphs feel mechanical, and connectors such as “while” are used repeatedly without always clarifying the comparison. Improve progression by grouping the early and later periods, then use a concise overview to frame the detailed comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “decreased,” and “grown,” and the reader can usually identify which accommodation type you mean. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for this task: “self owned household living expense” and “rented living expense” do not describe the data, which concerns households’ accommodation tenure, not expenses. “Grown up gradually,” “more less,” and “some grew” also weaken precision, while “imformation” is misspelled. Repeating “percentage” and “household” limits the range. Use straightforward, accurate terms such as “home ownership,” “rented accommodation,” “rose,” “fell,” and “reached a peak”; these will make the report clearer without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences linked with “while,” and the chronological sequence is generally understandable. However, control is uneven in the longer constructions. For example, “the percentage … was almost 25 … that was grown up gradually” has an unclear relative clause and an incorrect verb form; “was decreased” and “was some grew” also show problems forming verbs. There are further issues with articles and number, as in “self owned household,” and punctuation spacing around commas is inconsistent. These errors sometimes make relationships between figures less clear. Practise accurate past-tense reporting with simple structures first, then combine comparisons using forms such as “rose from … to …, while the proportion renting fell.”
