Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the chart’s subject and give a relevant overview: renting was highest at the start, while ownership rose to a peak around 2001 before falling. Several figures are also reported accurately, including ownership at 22% in 1918 and 32% in 1939 and 1953. However, the overview says ownership peaked in both 1991 and 2001, although 2001 is slightly higher (69% versus 68%), and the rental figure for 2001 is given inconsistently as both 32% and 31%. The claim that renting stayed at its highest “almost till 2001” is unclear; it declined over the period. The response is four words below the 150-word minimum. Develop the key comparisons more precisely and check figures against the chart.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for ownership and renting. This makes the main categories easy to follow, and phrases such as “On the other hand” signal a comparison. However, the two detail paragraphs both begin “Examining/Looking at the details,” which is repetitive, and some links are awkward or unclear, particularly “almost till 2001 it faces huge downfell.” The overview also repeats information that is then covered in the detail paragraphs without adding a clear comparison between the two series. Use more precise transitions and organise the details around the shared pattern—for example, the point at which ownership and renting were equal—so progression feels more deliberate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “households,” “accommodation,” “peak,” and “increased,” so the topic is generally clear. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or informal, such as “downfell,” “faces huge downfell,” and “reached at 32%.” There are also spelling errors in “accomodation” and “rema ins” (written as “remains” in the response, but used incorrectly in context), as well as the non-standard form “otherhand.” These errors make the description less precise and natural, though the intended trends can usually be understood. Build a reliable set of trend verbs and phrases, and check spelling and collocation before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “while” and a time clause beginning “between 1961 to 2001.” Most of the intended meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical choices are inaccurate. For example, “owned accommodation is at it’s peak” shifts into the present tense and uses an incorrect possessive form; “it remains same” is missing an article, and “it faces … came from 68% to 64%” combines incompatible verb forms. The phrase “between 1961 to 2001” also uses the wrong preposition pattern. Keep the description consistently in the past tense, and practise accurate comparative and time expressions while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
