Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main contrast and overall change: renting was more common initially, ownership rose over time, and the two were equal at one point. The figures you give are generally close to the chart, including the early rented share and the later peak in ownership. However, some details are inaccurate or imprecise: the equal point was in 1971, not 1973, and ownership peaked at about 69% in 2001 before falling to 64% in 2011, rather than reaching its high in 1991. The overview also says “first half period” without clearly identifying the turning point. To strengthen the response, report the key stages more precisely and distinguish the 2001 peak from the subsequent decline.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs describing rented and owned accommodation. This makes the two series easy to follow, and phrases such as “After a slight rise” help signal changes over time. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes weakened by unclear or awkward links, as in “Furthermore fall, resulted in 50 percent…” and “After a slight rise there is 5 percent increment.” The overview’s “At one point” also leaves the reader to infer when the figures were equal. Use more precise time references and connect each change explicitly to its year; this would make the organisation more consistently clear and less dependent on generic transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing trends, including “remained,” “decreased,” “rise,” and “dip,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There is some attempt at less common language, such as “substantially,” but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “rocketted” is misspelled and unsuitable here, “It was dipped” is an awkward collocation, and “people choosen rented accommodation” does not accurately describe the chart’s household data. Repetition of “slight” and “increased/decreased” also limits flexibility. Aim for precise chart language and natural collocations, such as “the proportion of households renting fell” or “home ownership climbed.” Check spelling and choose verbs that describe the data rather than people’s decisions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, and the response is usually understandable. However, errors in agreement, tense, articles, and sentence construction occur often enough to make some sentences awkward. For example, “The chart depict” needs subject–verb agreement, while “80 percent of households was” should use a plural verb. “Those households in the owned accommodation, only 20 percent of people are lived” has an incomplete structure and an incorrect verb form; “It was dipped” is also grammatically faulty. Keep the past tense consistent when reporting historical data, and build complete clauses with a clear subject and verb. More accurate control of these basic patterns would make your trend descriptions easier to read.
