Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response stays broadly on the topic of having many choices and gives examples involving clothing, transport, food, phones and education. However, it does not clearly answer “to what extent” you agree or disagree: the opening repeats the statement, while the conclusion says life is “amazing and beautiful” without stating a definite position. Most examples are listed rather than explained, and the paragraph about universities and schools does not show how these choices affect people or why they are excessive. The brief comparison with the past is also unsupported. To strengthen the response, state your view directly and develop two or three relevant reasons with explanation and a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an opening, several body paragraphs and a concluding sentence, so the reader can recognise a basic essay shape. The examples are grouped loosely by topic, such as food and clothing in one paragraph and phones and education in another. However, there is no clear progression toward an argument, and the final paragraph introduces the past without developing that comparison. Linking words such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” “Subsequently” and “Finally” are used, but they often connect lists rather than show meaningful relationships between ideas. Repeated references to “many people” also make the flow monotonous. Organise the essay around a few reasons, and use transitions and referencing to explain how each example supports your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate familiar examples, including “reserve seats,” “social media apps,” “higher-level degrees” and “educational facilities.” The response also uses some topic-related terms for consumer and educational choices. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases recur, especially “many people,” “different” and “choices.” Some expressions are imprecise or unnatural in context, such as “find universities throughout the world” and “popular food items,” which do not clearly express the intended point. More precise language would help distinguish between the availability of options and the difficulty of choosing among them. Aim to use a wider range of accurate terms and collocations, while avoiding repeated general phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
Most sentences are understandable, and the response includes both simple statements and some longer structures, for example, “There are also many cafés and restaurants … where people can try different types of food.” Basic present-tense forms are generally controlled, and punctuation usually separates the ideas clearly. The range of sentence patterns is nevertheless narrow, with many sentences beginning “Many people” or “There are.” The opening also begins “he topic,” apparently missing the initial letter, and the sentence “People have too many choices when spending money on different things” is not followed by a clear explanation of that relationship. To improve, vary sentence openings and practise combining ideas with accurate subordinate clauses and cause-and-effect structures.
