Student answer (Band 7.0)
Nowadays, many people consider that we have too many choices in our life. I disagree with this statement because many choices make our life more easy and comfortable. In this essay, I will explain my opinion with some example.
Firstly, having many choices help people to choose the best thing for their need and budget. In the past, people have only few choices for shopping, education and transport. But now, they can compare many products before buying it. This make people more happy because they can buy good quality things with low price. For example, if a person want to buy a mobile phone, he can compare different brands and choose the best one according to his budget.
Secondly, many choices also give people more opportunity in education and jobs. Students can choose different universities, online courses and careers. This help them improve their skills and achieve their dream. For instance, I am preparing for IELTS and I can choose online classes, YouTube lessons or an English academy. This choices help me study in better way.
In my opinion, having many choices is very useful because people have more freedom to make decision. Although sometimes people become confuse, I think the advantages are more than disadvantages.
In conclusion, I disagree that nowadays people have too many choices. I believe that many choices help people to improve their life, make better decisions and achieve their goals. Choices acts also like a opportunity which works those time when you are in trouble and unconscious.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The essay addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding consumer choice and educational opportunities are relevant and supported by examples. However, the development is somewhat basic; the ideas could be extended further to reach a higher band. The final sentence in the conclusion is slightly unclear and does not add significant value to the argument. Overall, the response covers all parts of the task well, but the depth of analysis remains at a functional level rather than a sophisticated one.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. The use of cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Although', and 'In conclusion' helps guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. The flow between sentences is generally smooth, but the final paragraph contains a slightly disjointed sentence ('Choices acts also like a opportunity...'), which disrupts the coherence of the conclusion. Overall, the structure is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There is some attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'budget', 'compare', 'opportunities'). However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'make our life more easy' instead of 'easier', and 'unconscious' in the conclusion, which does not fit the context. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise collocations and a wider variety of academic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('many choices help', 'This make', 'This choices', 'Choices acts') and article usage ('an opportunity'). These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. The student demonstrates a basic control of grammar, but a wider range of error-free complex structures is needed to move into the higher bands. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement errors would significantly improve the score.
