Student answer (Band 6.0)

the people nowadays have variety of options ,people can choose from hundreds of phone models, countless university courses and even different types of coffees.i largely agree with this view as choice can be empowering ,and stressfull and waste of time in many situations.

having multiple choices could be confusing for people many times as most people spends weeks on choosing betweeen the things ,one of my friend spend almost a month for choosing the best laptop with unique features and two days after her purchase she started regretting because she saw another laptop with more advanced features than her laptop.so most of the time having more options increase the compitition between the products and for customers its become harder to choose the best one.there are 20 different brands for toothpaste ,to select the one is far more difficult.psychologists called it paradox of choice.so it may cause anxiety, stress waste of time for having so much choices.

however it is important to acknowledge having more choices could be beneficial in many areas.in education and career having more options allow people to persue the career of their own choice, they do not have to forcefully join the course they are not intersted at all just because of the lack of options, variety of options allow them to choose the course ot their own choice.

in conclusion, having more choices in life could be life saviour but in some areas there must be more clear and precise options to avoid unessessory stress and time wastage by hunting useless products.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the negative and positive aspects of having too many choices. You clearly state your position in the introduction and maintain it throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the 'paradox of choice' and the benefits of career flexibility. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the example of the laptop purchase is a bit anecdotal and could be more effectively linked to the broader argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph provides a more thorough analysis of the implications of your points rather than just listing examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For example, you use 'so' and 'and' frequently to connect ideas, which makes the flow feel a bit simplistic. There are also issues with punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas and periods, which disrupts the reading experience. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'on the other hand') to create a smoother transition between your sentences and paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'paradox of choice' and 'empowering', which is positive. However, there are several spelling errors ('stressfull', 'compitition', 'unessessory') and some word-choice inaccuracies ('forcefully join' instead of 'compelled to join'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic descriptors. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure you proofread for common spelling mistakes, as these errors occasionally distract the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the overall quality. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('most people spends', 'having more options increase'), missing articles ('to select the one'), and run-on sentences. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that punctuation is used correctly to separate independent clauses. Practicing complex structures like conditional sentences would also help boost your score.
