Student answer (Band 7.0)
In today's world, many individuals are surrounded by a variety of choices in almost every situation of their lives, from shopping, education to career paths and entertainment. I strongly agree that a range of choices are available in today's generation and this is very beneficial for many individuals to find products and opportunities in life.
First and foremost, the major advantage of having more choices is that consumers can select their products on the basis of their preferences, budgets and product quality. For instance, "online shopping" offers thousands of products at different price ranges and different product quality so that customers can compare their quality, price and rating or reviews and choose products wisely before purchasing them. As a result, businesses are encouraged to enhance their goods and services
Furthermore, the increasing number of educational and career opportunities has more options for an individual, students; can choose their favorite universities with various streams of education and international training programs along with that some of them are also providing "online courses" so students can choose according to their interest and financial situation. Similarly, working professionals now have access to a wide range of career paths including remote jobs and freelancing, these options provide more flexibility in their work.
However, it is true that sometimes too many choices can make people confused when making a decision for choosing one option, for example, selecting a "mobile phone" because of a large number of a varieties are available. So sometimes people tend to do some research about that product or service and find another alternative and compare it and then they can make decisions. Therefore, the benefits of having multiple choices clearly outweigh the disadvantages.
In conclusion, although an excessive number of options are available and sometimes it is difficult for decision making, the advantage far outweighs the disadvantage that sometimes people have benefits of having different choices, they promote competition, improve quality, and enable people to make decisions and choose products according to their need.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on consumer benefits, educational opportunities, and the minor drawback of decision fatigue. While the arguments are logical, they could be further developed with more specific, real-world examples rather than general statements. For instance, the mention of 'online shopping' is a good start, but could be expanded to explain how this specifically impacts the global economy or individual stress levels. The conclusion effectively summarizes the stance, ensuring the position remains clear and consistent.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the advantages from the disadvantages. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Furthermore', 'Similarly', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with sentence-level cohesion, such as the comma splice in the third paragraph ('...freelancing, these options provide...'). Despite these minor flaws, the overall structure is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly. The student uses topic-specific terms like 'career paths', 'financial situation', and 'decision making'. There is an attempt to use less common vocabulary, though some collocations are slightly awkward, such as 'a large number of a varieties'. The range is adequate for the task, but to reach a higher band, the student should incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and idiomatic expressions to avoid repetition of words like 'choices' and 'products'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are recurring grammatical errors, particularly with punctuation and sentence boundaries. For example, the sentence 'students; can choose' contains an unnecessary semicolon, and there are several run-on sentences or comma splices. Subject-verb agreement is generally sound, but the control over complex structures is inconsistent. The errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the essay from reaching the higher bands where error-free complex sentences are more frequent.
