Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses the prompt by discussing the increase in choices in modern life. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you provide examples such as access to information, career opportunities, and online shopping, these points are listed rather than fully explored or analyzed. The position is clear, but the introduction is weak; it includes meta-commentary like 'This will be discussed in this essay' and 'In conclusion i will write my opinion,' which is unnecessary and detracts from the academic tone. To reach a higher band, focus on developing each point with more depth and nuance rather than simply listing benefits.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the structure is quite basic. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and repetitive, relying heavily on simple transitions like 'Firstly,' 'Second,' 'Third,' and 'Lastly.' Some sentences are poorly connected, and the flow between ideas feels disjointed. For example, the transition between the discussion of career opportunities and the mention of online shopping is abrupt. The conclusion is also very brief and does not effectively summarize the main arguments presented in the body paragraphs. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic, repetitive terms such as 'individuals,' 'people,' 'things,' and 'good.' There are also several spelling errors, such as 'indiviuals,' 'opportunites,' 'severals,' 'becaouse,' and 'availible.' While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the frequent spelling mistakes limit the score. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and pay closer attention to spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include missing articles (e.g., 'on internet'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'in history a person can not imagine'), and punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after periods and incorrect capitalization. The sentence 'In present they can consume knowledge about anything for free without even going to any library' is grammatically awkward. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and sentence punctuation will help improve your accuracy.
