Student answer (Band 5.0)
In the contemporary era, people argue that we have numerous choices to choose anything such as in education and career purposes. From my perspective, I agree with this statement because choosing relies on the decision-making process. This essay will examine both sides before presenting my own view.
On the other hand, it is a positive aspect because choices these days have significantly increased because people think too much. However, they can take numerous time to choose the best option in their career and education journey. For instance, choosing a better choice is good rather than just making imagination in the mind.
On the other hand, the major advantage of choices has grown because people can choose easily their household equipment whenever they go outside for grocery and shopping. Furthermore, many individuals choose their career path in a better way to choose good opportunities. For instance, humans can choose after taking some time and start their journey and step into the path. Similarly, choosing abroad for higher education is a good opportunity in recent years.
Although, I firmly believe that many individuals take too much time to think about what to do. I think it is not a good idea. Whenever you imagine anything, just go with the flow and face any kind of situation, because this will make us stronger and energetic.
To sum up, both advantages have great perspectives, but in my opinion, time is the major thing in every kind of work. However, don't waste your time and do whatever you want and achieve your goals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt but lacks depth and clarity. While you state your position, the development of ideas is superficial. For example, the paragraph regarding household equipment and grocery shopping is vague and does not clearly link back to the core issue of whether 'too many choices' is a problem. The arguments provided, such as 'just go with the flow,' are somewhat simplistic and lack the analytical rigour required for an Academic Task 2 essay. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a clear, well-supported argument that directly answers the 'to what extent' aspect of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. You use 'On the other hand' twice to introduce paragraphs, which is confusing as it does not accurately reflect the relationship between your ideas. Furthermore, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused (e.g., 'Although, I firmly believe...'). To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words that accurately signal the relationship between sentences and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic words like 'choose,' 'good,' and 'things,' which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. There are also issues with collocation, such as 'making imagination in the mind' and 'take numerous time,' which are not natural English expressions. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'decision fatigue,' 'consumerism,' or 'overwhelming options,' and practice using collocations correctly to convey your meaning more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they are often grammatically incorrect or awkward, such as 'choosing a better choice is good rather than just making imagination in the mind.' There are frequent errors in word order, article usage, and verb forms (e.g., 'choose easily their household equipment'). These errors occasionally impede the flow of the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and then gradually incorporate more complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences, ensuring you check for subject-verb agreement.
