Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's modern world, people have multiple options to choose in many area of life than before, such as shopping, education, career and entertainment. While some individulas believe that have many options to choose becomes hectic sometime. I believe that the multiple choices have benefits that are greater than disadvantages.

On the one hand, having too many options can sometimes become difficult for the people to choose the right decision. For example, when buying a mobile phone, choosing a university course or select a movie for the entertainment. When they explore the product over the internet then there are multiple variety of different brands items. As a result, persons spend most of their time in compairing the same product of different varieties or worrying that they may not made a wrong decision. This situation can leads to headache and stressful for them after making the choice.

On the other hand, a greater variety of choices allow the individuals to take the products or oportunities that meets their needs and preferences. In the past, consumers had limited options, however today they compare products, prices, quality and reviews before making a choice. For instance, students have multiple online courses throughout the universities in the world, giving them a better chance to choose the right terminology about the course and university for advance education.

In conclusion, although having too many options may sometimes leads to the confusion and make decision-making more difficult. I believe that the more choices leads to more comparison and there is a chance to get exect item as according to the requirements.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that the benefits of having many choices outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, such as the discussion on consumer decision-making and the benefits of online education. However, some points could be extended further to reach a higher band. For instance, the argument regarding the 'headache' of choice is a bit brief. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarises the main points. To improve, ensure that each supporting example is fully explained to demonstrate a deeper level of critical thinking.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two sides of the argument. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'As a result' are used to guide the reader through the text. However, there are some instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some referencing is a bit repetitive. The progression of ideas is clear, but more sophisticated linking words could be employed to improve the overall flow and coherence between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'preferences,' 'terminology,' and 'decision-making.' However, there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'individulas,' 'compairing,' 'oportunities,' 'exect') and some word choice issues, such as 'take the products' instead of 'select products.' The range is sufficient for the task, but the lack of precision and the presence of spelling errors prevent a higher score. Focusing on accurate spelling and more natural collocations will significantly improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'have many options... becomes hectic,' 'leads to the confusion,' 'throughout the universities'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'choosing a university course or select a movie.' While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to limit the score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring consistent verb forms in complex sentences.
