Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people believe that nowadays we have too many choices in every aspect of life than past. But having too many choices often frustrate you because you are not able to choose from them.
Lets see, when we need to travel from one city to another one, we have to choose which kind of transport we will use like bike, car, train, or plane. And when we need to eat we choose which kind of food we should eat such as fast food, or cultural food.
Moreover, now when any country fight with another country, firstly they make choices over weapons that will be used in war, then they invade. Similarly, now always we have to choose between many options in almost every field of life that sometimes make person frustrate to make choice.
In contrast, people in the past did not have many options to choose from them. They always have limited options to do work. For example, when they have to wash clothes they washed them by hands because they did not have choice to wash either in washing machine or by hands. Likewise, when they traveled to anywhere, they traveled through horses, or camels because they did not have more options like buses, trains, cars, or planes. Similarly, they nearly have limited choices in every aspect of life.
Briefly, now people live in modern world have more choices than people in the past. By seeing all these things, we can easily conclude that today we have too many choices.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the increase in choices compared to the past. However, the development is limited. While you provide examples of transport and food, the argument regarding 'war' is somewhat tangential and not fully explored in relation to the core issue of personal choice. The position is clear, but the ideas lack depth and analytical rigor. To reach a higher band, you should focus on explaining the 'why' and 'how' behind the frustration caused by excessive choice, rather than simply listing examples. The conclusion is brief and does not add new insight to the discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In contrast', and 'Similarly'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Lets see' to introduce a point. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the transition between the discussion of modern life and the historical comparison could be smoother. Referencing is occasionally repetitive, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect your arguments more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You rely on simple terms like 'good', 'bad', 'many', and 'things'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'cultural food' (perhaps 'traditional cuisine' would be more accurate) and 'make person frustrate' (which should be 'make a person frustrated'). To improve, you need to incorporate a wider range of less common lexical items and demonstrate better control over collocations. The current range is sufficient to communicate your meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher band scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('they always have limited options', 'people... have more choices'), article usage, and sentence construction ('nowadays we have too many choices... than past'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in phrasing that occasionally make the text feel disjointed. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on consistent verb tense usage and correct prepositional phrases would significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
