Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by agreeing that there are too many choices today. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention technology, education, and food, the arguments lack depth and specific, illustrative examples that would elevate the essay. The conclusion is repetitive and does not effectively summarize the main points or provide a final thought. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph explores the 'why' and 'how' of your arguments more thoroughly, rather than simply listing examples. The position is clear, but the overall task response is limited by the lack of detailed support.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and basic transitions. You use 'Moreover' and 'Furthermore' frequently, which makes the flow feel mechanical. There are also issues with punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas (e.g., 'Initialy,it', 'Furthermore, the'), which disrupts the reading experience. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the conclusion is poorly constructed, starting with 'In conclusion to conclude', which is redundant and grammatically incorrect. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring proper spacing and punctuation will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You rely heavily on phrases like 'a lot of' and 'a large number of', which limits the sophistication of your writing. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'food commodities' and 'a lot number of choices'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary and avoid repeating the same phrases. Incorporating topic-specific vocabulary related to consumerism, decision-making, or modern lifestyle would demonstrate a wider range and improve the overall quality of your lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Common issues include missing articles (e.g., 'in educational field'), incorrect word order, and consistent spacing errors after punctuation. While the meaning is generally clear, these errors occur frequently enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring correct subject-verb agreement, and paying closer attention to punctuation rules, particularly the use of spaces after commas and periods. Reducing these mechanical errors is essential for achieving a higher score.
