Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 120 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to address the prompt by mentioning technology and shopping, the argument is underdeveloped and lacks a clear, sustained position. The response does not explore the 'too many choices' aspect of the prompt in any depth, instead focusing on the benefits of online shopping. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and ensure you address all parts of the question. The current length prevents a full exploration of the topic, leading to a low score for task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the ideas within the paragraphs are disjointed and lack cohesive devices to link sentences effectively. Phrases like 'To commence with' are used, but the subsequent sentences do not flow logically. The referencing is often unclear, and the structure is fragmented, making it difficult for the reader to follow your line of reasoning. To improve, focus on using transition words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'however') to connect your ideas and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic words like 'important', 'people', and 'things'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'technology spread their wings' and 'few people trusted in that'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of your message. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items and more precise collocations. Avoid informal phrasing and focus on using words that accurately convey your intended meaning in an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The grammar is characterized by frequent errors that often cause difficulty for the reader. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'technology spread', 'people does not wait'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation, such as 'explain such as amazon'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, you need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is essential.
