Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is undeniable that advancement in technology had become a pensive concern in this modern economy. In this regards, some people feel that nowadays we have too many choices in different areas especially education, products and technology. I agree to a large extent with this notion due to many reasons which will be outline in forthcoming fragments with a logical conclusion.
To commence with, in modern world there are several benefits of getting too much choices. The prime one is that, invention of electronic devices helps to grab the information about certain events easily. To explain it, in past people had to send letters to talk with loved ones who are far away but nowadays people can easily access to them through call or chat. Secondly, it directly contribute to the globalization trading. To elaborate it, construction of roads, railways and airports helps to import and export goods and services to vast countries all over the world. Moreover, it improves the education system by adopting certain new practices such as animated videos, apps and other online study materials and research papers. To clarify it, there are wide varieties of product available they can buy after matching the quality and price with another one.
Nevertheless, there are also few drawbacks of having too many choices as it totally destroyed the traditional practices and may increases the expenses. First and foremost reason is that, it creates lot of confusion and stress especially among younger generation. To illustrate, due to lots of choices and preferences people are unable to get a right choice related to particular things which may sometimes leads to negative results.
To conclude, there are certain cons related to this statement such as create confusion, chaos, and stress yet according to me nowadays we have too many choices and there benefits ought not to be neglected at any cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide examples for the benefits of choice, the discussion on drawbacks is less developed and relies on generalisations. The term 'pensive concern' in the introduction is used incorrectly, as it does not fit the context of technological advancement. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a balanced and detailed explanation of the points raised, rather than listing them briefly. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and could more effectively summarise the main arguments presented in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Secondly', and 'Nevertheless' to link your points. However, some of these transitions feel mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'To explain it' and 'To clarify it', which are used repeatedly. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the link between 'electronic devices' and 'globalization trading' is somewhat abrupt. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are instances of inaccurate word choice and collocation. For example, 'pensive concern' is misused, and 'grab the information' is informal. Phrases like 'vast countries' and 'matching the quality... with another one' are slightly awkward. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'globalization' and 'traditional practices', the overall control is limited. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding informal phrasing. Expanding your range of academic vocabulary will also help convey your ideas with greater clarity and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally affect readability. Examples include 'advancement in technology had become' (should be 'has become'), 'getting too much choices' (should be 'having too many choices'), and 'it directly contribute' (should be 'it directly contributes'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are areas that require attention. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring consistent verb tenses will significantly improve your score.
