Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position on the issue of having too many choices. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention education, communication, and entertainment as benefits, and stress as a drawback, these points are not fully extended or supported with deep analysis. The explanation regarding mobile phone choices is a good start, but it lacks a more sophisticated exploration of the psychological impact of 'choice overload.' To improve, ensure that each paragraph provides a more detailed explanation and a concrete, well-developed example to support your claims, rather than listing multiple points briefly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Moreover', 'First and foremost'). There are also issues with sentence-level cohesion; some sentences are fragmented or lack clear logical connectors, such as 'To explain it that nowadays students have many choices'. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by these structural weaknesses. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next, rather than relying on a list-like structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'entertaiment' (repeated) and 'individual' used where 'individuals' (plural) would be more appropriate. You rely on basic vocabulary like 'many' and 'good', and some collocations are unnatural, such as 'spread their wings all over the world' in this context. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to consumerism, decision-making, and modern lifestyle, and pay closer attention to spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some individual believe'), missing articles, and incorrect preposition usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with many sentences lacking proper terminal punctuation or using it incorrectly. For example, 'To explain it that nowadays students have many choices for their higher studies' is grammatically incomplete. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and proofreading for missing articles and punctuation errors.
