Student answer (Band 6.0)
Today, consumerism has increased due to modern lifestyle and technological advancements. As a result, a wide range of choices are available in every sectors, from buisness to materialistic things. From my perspective, an abundance of options can create confusion and decision fatigue.
On the one hand, multiple choices help to select better products and it allows to compare features of different options. For instance, a huge variety of electronic devices such as mobile phones, televisions, surveillance cameras, laptops etc have become neccessities. Eventually, wider options can make these gadgets available for anyone, from lower income groups to higher income groups; they can choose devices as their needs, personal preferances and budgets by comparing features and programs.
On the other hand, despite all these benefits greater freedom of choices has several repercussions. An overwhelming number of options can leads to confusion and fear of wrong decisions. For example, people are often influenced by multiple products, social media and fake advertisments, which results in excessive and wrong purchasing. To elobrate, due to too many options people are always be trapped by digital scams, like some platforms sell cheaper products and claim higher benefits and features, which leads to unnecessary burden and choices overload. Though it has plenty of advantages, drawbacks of wider verities are more for consumers.
Nevertheless, multiple options are crucial to compare alternatives, increase accessibility and greater satisfaction , it creates uncertainty, indecisiveness and unnecessary investments. In my opinion, too many choices have a huge number of consequences and confusion.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the benefits and drawbacks of having too many choices. The position is clear from the introduction and maintained throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'decision fatigue' is mentioned in the introduction but not fully explored in the body paragraphs. The examples provided, such as electronic devices and digital scams, are relevant but could be more deeply analysed to demonstrate a stronger grasp of the topic. The conclusion effectively summarises the writer's stance, though it repeats some points already made. To reach a higher band, the student should aim to provide more nuanced explanations for their arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Nevertheless', which help guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as the phrase 'it creates uncertainty' in the final paragraph, where the antecedent is unclear. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the opposing views. To improve, the student should focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that pronouns and references clearly point back to the intended subjects.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'decision fatigue', 'repercussions', and 'indecisiveness'. However, there are several spelling errors, including 'buisness', 'neccessities', 'preferances', 'advertisments', 'elobrate', and 'verities'. These errors are noticeable but do not impede overall communication. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to discuss the topic, but more precise collocations and a reduction in spelling mistakes would elevate the score. The student should focus on proofreading for common spelling errors and expanding their range of topic-specific academic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'in every sectors' (should be 'in every sector'), 'it allows to compare' (should be 'it allows us to compare'), 'people are always be trapped' (should be 'people are always trapped'), and 'drawbacks of wider verities are more' (should be 'the drawbacks... are greater'). While these errors are frequent, they rarely prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to demonstrate better control over subject-verb agreement and verb tenses, and aim for more error-free complex sentences.
