Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the negative aspects (stress, confusion) and positive aspects (freedom, quality) of having many choices. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the paragraph on consumer products lists examples but lacks a cohesive argument. The position is clear, but the structure is disjointed, making it difficult to follow the progression of the argument. To improve, you should focus on developing each main point with a clear topic sentence and a specific, well-explained example, rather than listing ideas in a fragmented way.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks logical flow between sentences and paragraphs. Many sentences are fragmented, such as 'Now the first is consumer product there are the thousands of brands'. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and often inaccurate, which hinders the reader's ability to follow your train of thought. Paragraphing is present but the internal structure of these paragraphs is weak, often consisting of lists of ideas rather than connected arguments. To improve, focus on using linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' to connect your ideas and ensure each paragraph has a clear, unified focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits your ability to express complex ideas. There are several instances of incorrect word forms and awkward collocations, such as 'making it to difficult what do buy' and 'the people face difficulty can not decide the rights decisions'. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'consumer product' and 'individual needs', the lack of precision and frequent errors in word choice make the writing feel unnatural. Expanding your range of synonyms and focusing on correct word forms will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with sentence structure, including run-on sentences and missing verbs or articles (e.g., 'Now a days technology can more advanced'). Many sentences are simple, and attempts at complex structures are often grammatically incorrect. Punctuation is also inconsistent, which makes the text difficult to read. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions.
