Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state your position clearly, the arguments regarding 'western culture' and 'transportation' are underdeveloped and lack sufficient explanation or relevant examples. The connection between the prompt (having too many choices) and your examples is tenuous; for instance, the mention of a 'social media department' survey is vague and does not clearly support your argument. To improve, you must expand your points with detailed reasoning and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the logical progression of ideas is often disjointed. Transitions such as 'Another significant point in its favour' are used, but the internal flow within paragraphs is weak. Some sentences, such as 'If new discoveries boost up in the society, it can bring benefit in the form of various ietems,' feel disconnected from the main argument. The use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, which hinders the overall flow of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'present time' and 'many people'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'Some masses believe' (which is unnatural) and 'boost up in the society'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more academic collocations and precise terminology related to the topic of consumerism and societal change.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with article usage ('the western food'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure (e.g., 'I am on the same wavelength with because of...'). The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with few successful attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the lack of commas in complex sentences. You need to focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect prepositions.
