Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by agreeing that there is an abundance of choice in the modern era. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide examples of online shopping and food delivery services, the essay focuses heavily on the 'how' of modern shopping rather than exploring the broader implications of 'too many choices' (such as decision fatigue or the psychological impact). The position is clear, but the argument lacks depth and critical analysis. To improve, ensure you move beyond listing examples and instead explain the consequences of these choices to fully develop your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the structure is quite basic. The use of cohesive devices is often repetitive or mechanical, such as the frequent use of 'and also' or 'in 21st century'. The transition between the introduction, body paragraphs, and the conclusion is abrupt. The conclusion is particularly weak, as it is labelled as 'conclusion:' rather than being integrated into the flow of the text. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects logically to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'online shopping applications' and 'available'. There are also several spelling errors and word-choice issues, such as 'excess' instead of 'access' and 'verry'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of errors in word formation limit the score. Try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and avoid repeating the same basic terms throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, such as subject-verb agreement ('the delivery arrived' instead of 'arrives'), article usage ('in the 21st century' vs 'in 21st century'), and punctuation. Sentence boundaries are sometimes unclear, leading to run-on sentences. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your use of articles and verb tenses will significantly improve your writing.
