Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the contemporary era, everyone has their own likes and dislikes.
People prefer to explore different varities when it comes to buying something new or exploring new places. The business worlds noted this trend. Entrepreneurs are trying to develop so many new goods and services. The main contributor in this trend is an increase in the disposable income. This led to an increase in overall consumption worldwide. Some people believe that nowadays we have too many choices. I completely agree with this statement.
There are so many brands, applications, books and movies are available.
The world is very big. When we go outside to eat something delicious, we find so many restaurants. Furthermore, when we decide to book hotels online, we come across so many hotels. These things are influencing people psychologically. People become more choosy and they seek so many options before buying anything. Every individual wants the best products or services, because of that, people browse a lot before buying anything.
The global population is increasing substantially, education and health care system are improving, technology is improving, people are investing more on research and development, globalisation is happening very fast with the democratisation of internet and last but not the least, competition is rising. These all led to a more liberal system, which is in the favour of the buyers. Naturally, we find so many options in every domain. Brands are spending a lot of capital on marketing to reach out clients.
Overall, having too many choices can sometimes cause confusion. That's why people often call the current generation the most confused people of all time. Additionally, too many choices can sometime make a person opportunistic and the person might develop a mentality of replacing people or products. In a bigger picture, it is in the favour of consumers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the impact of disposable income and the psychological effect of having too many choices. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the third paragraph lists several factors like globalisation and technology without fully explaining how they specifically lead to 'too many choices' in a way that deepens the argument. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly explored to reach a higher band. The conclusion provides a summary but introduces a slight contradiction by suggesting it is in the 'favour of consumers' after arguing it causes confusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'Additionally', and 'Overall', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. For example, the start of the second paragraph, 'There are so many brands, applications, books and movies are available', is grammatically awkward and disrupts the flow. Referencing is generally clear, but the progression of ideas within the third paragraph is a list-like sequence rather than a cohesive argument. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more fluid to improve the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'disposable income', 'democratisation', and 'globalisation'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simple phrasing such as 'so many' and 'very big'. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'the business worlds noted this trend' (should be 'business world') and 'reach out clients' (should be 'reach out to clients'). While the meaning is always clear, the lack of more sophisticated or precise lexical items prevents a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'There are so many brands... are available' (a double verb construction) and 'These all led to a more liberal system' (should be 'These factors all lead'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are minor slips. While the writer attempts complex sentences, they are not always error-free. The errors present do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent the response from reaching the Band 7 level, which requires more frequent error-free sentences and better control over complex structures.
